About Us

We are three Slovenes and one Burmese-born Australian living in a most beautiful village called Studor in the magical land of Bohinj.

The village of Studor shares its name with the powerful mountain that sits right above it.

Rustic-house 13 and Studor are about 3km from Lake Bohinj. There are no street names here and the address is simply the number of the house and the name of the village. Hence Studor 13.

The original 200 year-old house at Studor 13 was renovated between 2001 and 2008. In 2015 facilities inside were further upgraded to specifically met the demands of couples or small families looking for boutique-style accommodation in a quiet surroundings.

The house is Eco friendly with solar panels, carbon natural wood heating and local timber has been used where possible.

There are only two large-sized suites in the house, so you are assured of having lots of space to move about during the day, and complete peace of mind at night.

Take in views of the Julian alps from the balcony or just watch the slow pace of village life. See the cows come home in the summer months or ski out right from the front door in the winter.

We invite you warmly to come and experience an old Slovenian-style way of life mixed with some modern and international flavors.

Where We are

Venice – 250km, Vienna – 350km, Vladivostok – 8500km, Venus Bay (Victoria, Australia) – 16150km

Considered as The Sunny Side Of The Alps, Slovenia is located at the end of the Alps chain with Austria and Hungary to the North, Italy to the West and Croatia to the East.

A region (not a town) to the North East of Slovenia, and with Bled it is considered as one of the three Slovenian jewels. The other two being Piran/Portorož and the Soča river.

The house is located in the village of Studor which bears the same name as the powerful mountain that is above it – Mt Studor (1003m). The village is 3km from Lake Bohinj.

Lake Bohinj is 25km from Bled, 50km from the main airport (Jože Pučnik Airport – LJU) and 80km from Ljubljana, the capital city.

Studor and many of the top attractions in Bohinj are located inside the Triglav National Park, making Rustic-house 13 a great base for all the activities.

Our Humble Abode

We have only 2 accommodation styles on offer. Both are suitable for couples looking to that extra space or families with up to two children. Rooms are spacious, modern and full of character.

We have a shared cosy kitchen for guests to enjoy basic meals as well as an adjacent common room which has a photography theme.

However, we ask that guests do not cook, especially “heavy” meals such as deep fried chicken in the kitchen or anything that involves frying with oil. A number of well recommended restaurants are nearby which are all very reasonable priced.

There is also plenty of balcony space to check out the slow pace of Studor village life.

Vogel/Toplar

Rooms Vogel and Toplar are offered as one combined unit or just room Vogel. It is not possible to book for room Toplar only.

  • Room Vogel is a spacious room for couples looking for that extra space and comfort. It has a balcony and overlooks the ski station of Vogel.
  • Toplar is one of the many names for the unique Slovenian icon, the double hayrack. Other names include Kozolc and Stog. This room with two single beds overlooks not surprisingly one of the many Toplars in the village. Like many other Toplars in the area, this one is still in use today to store hay, farming machinery and for drying produce from the garden.

Pokljuka/Kredarica

The apartment is divided into two sections. The lower level – room Pokljuka – has a couch which can be a single bed, a sitting lounge area and bathroom. The Kredarica attic area above has a king-sized bed.

The high plains of Pokljuka and the cottage of Kredarica have a special place in all Slovenian hearts. Pokljuka has an amazingly diverse range of flora and fauna, whilst Kredarica (2514m) being the highest cottage in Slovenia is the overnight stay of choice before attempting the summit of Mt Triglav (2864m) the next day.

Check-in is after 14:00, check out is before 10:00. If you need to check-in later please arrange in advance.

Please do not dispose of any foreign materials such as latex in the toilets. All wastes remain on our premises as communal sewage is not yet available in Studor.

Please reduce amount of toilet paper and hot water usage. Excess toilet paper greatly increases the chances of blockage, and we rely heavily on solar panels to heat water.

Please keep noise to a reasonable level after 23:00.
