Photography, Nature in Comfort, and Tales Tour

Experience the magic of Bohinj through the lens and with real stories.

Anyone who has ever been to Bohinj will tell you that it is stunningly beautiful. From Lake Bohinj to the highest peak in the Julian Alps – Triglav, there are great photo locations in every direction. Almost the entire tour is inside the Triglav National Park, so you are assured of getting the highest quality alpine air, pure mountain-fresh water and all the peace of mind that you are looking for.

Your stay is in perhaps the most quintessential of all Bohinj accommodation that is available. Rustic-house 13 is located in the tiny village of Studor which is generally considered to be one of the oldest villages in Slovenia. The house maybe rustic in appearance but your comfort levels will be at a maximum.

To ensure that your tour is the best in terms of service and knowledge, you have not one but two guides who have a total combined photography experience of 30+ years. And the fact that one lives in and the other works for the National Park means that your stay will be further enhanced full of village tales and mountain folklore.

Your hosts are passionate about photography, of course, but more importantly they have an unparalleled enthusiasm for Bohinj. They would very much like to share with you their knowledge and real-life experiences of living and working here.

Who are Aleš Zdešar and Andy Aungthwin?
Aleš has been teaching and running photography courses for a number of years through the Triglav National Park where he works as an advisor or privately in this “spare” time. Aleš has extensive knowledge of the Park, so you can rest assure that when you are lost or stuck in thick forests beneath the majestic Julian Alps he will find a way out.

Andy is a Burmese-born Australian who lives in Studor with his Slovene wife and two children. Andy has been running private photo tours of Bohinj for a number of years but has recently formed a partnership with Aleš called The Light in Bohinj photo tours. (

Aleš and Andy have photographed Bohinj well before the age of the digital camera – that is on film – so you can be certain that they know this place very well indeed.
